Our Therapy

What does it look like?

  • A free 15 minute phone consultation.

  • One-on-one sessions with a registered psychotherapist (ACA level 2).

  • A safe, comfortable and confidential environment to work through tough emotions, thoughts and adverse life experiences.

  • Bespoke assessments and tailored treatment plans to suit the developmental stage of each individual.

  • Depending on the individual needs, I may utilize culturally appropriate evidence-based modalities such as EMDR, ACT, CBT, play/art therapy, mindfulness, solution-focused therapy, psychodynamic and person-centred therapy.

AS A COUNSELOR, I WILL:

Remind you that you aren’t broken.
Give you room to access your own wisdom.
Support you in figuring out what to do.
Recognise hat you are the expert on your own life. Remember that only you know what is best for you.

Honor that I don’t know it all.
Collaborate with you on how to make the hard
stuff easier to sit with.

AS A COUNSELOR, I WON’T:

Try to fix you.
Give you advice.
Tell you what to do.
Pretend I know more about you than you do.
Assume what is best for you.
Have all the answers.
Make the hard stuff go away.

What to expect

Therapy is not a quick fix and usually takes personal commitment and perseverance. I will be with you each step of your journey. Individual therapy consists of regular sessions of 50 minutes each.

What is therapeutic coaching?

The therapist implements a combination of therapy and coaching techniques to help clients move forward in achieving their personal goals. I will help you break through barriers, set realistic goals, maximise motivation and ultimately achieve personal success.

When should you seek a therapist for your child?

As a loving and caring parent/carer/guardian it is not always easy or possible to diagnose or address your child/teenager’s mental health issues. If you feel your child/teen is not functioning well (displaying anxiety, depression or challenging behaviour) inside their home, school or social environment and you can’t communicate effectively, then working with a child therapist can help.

By providing the young child/teenager with a new perspective and tools to overcome mental or behaviour obstacles, the therapist working together with the parent/carer provides them the space to heal. The aim of therapy is to allow the child/teen to break free of destructive and negative patterns of worry, despair/trauma or anxiety and provide practical tools to help face the individual face current challenges. I will use specific and unique counselling techniques/play to connect with your child/teen to ensure optimal success in challenging circumstances.

The therapist will help your child with:

  • Expressing and understanding emotions, and the connection between emotions and behaviours.

  • Cultivate healthy coping skills.

  • Increase resilience and commitment.

  • Resolving and regulating unhelpful behaviours.

  • Cope effectively during transitions (e.g. divorce, loss of loved one or trauma).

  • Effective tools for emotion regulation.
